What is critical illness cover?
Critical illness cover could support you and your family financially, by paying out a lump sum if you ever became unwell with a range of serious conditions such as cancer, heart attack or stroke.
Unfortunately, the bills don’t stop if you were ever to fall critically ill. As it’s not always possible to continue working whilst recovering from a critical illness such as cancer, this can add financial stress to an already incredibly difficult time for you and your family.
Critical illness cover pays out a lump sum to help remove that financial stress and gives you and your loved ones financial peace of mind whilst you focus on your recovery.
How does critical illness work?
Critical illness can be added to your application for life insurance for additional protection. Paid as a lump sum following a critical illness diagnosis, it gives you the flexibility to spend your payout on whatever you need.
If you were to ever make a claim on your critical illness cover, it would have no impact on your life insurance policy. If you were to pass away following a critical illness claim your loved ones would still receive the full sum assured.
What conditions are covered?
Our critical illness cover pays out if you are diagnosed with the most common serious illnesses such as cancer, heart attacks, and stroke.
It also covers any of the conditions listed in our Policy Terms and Conditions.
What is child critical illness?
Child critical illness pays out a lump sum to help support your family, if any of your children were diagnosed with a serious condition. The amount of cover is equal to 25% of your critical illness cover up to a maximum of £25,000.
Child critical illness cover could help remove some of the financial stress if you need to take time off work to care for your child or help fund any treatment or changes to the home to accommodate their condition.
How much critical illness cover do I need?
Everyone’s circumstances are different so your cover should reflect your needs. Consider the costs that you would need to cover if you were to become unwell and are unable to work for an extended period. This might be your mortgage payments, monthly bills, childcare or food shopping.
The length of your critical illness cover must be the same length as your life insurance cover. At Beagle Street, dependent on your age, you can choose between 5-40 years cover. You might want to consider the length or your mortgage or when your children will be financially independent when choosing your cover period.
How much does critical illness cover cost?
Our premiums vary depending on the length and amount of cover you need as well as your personal circumstances such as age, health, and lifestyle.
At Beagle Street we promise that regardless of your circumstance or the policy you choose, your premiums are guaranteed to never increase (unless you request to change your policy) – from the first day to the last.
